hEARing Center was born when it dawned to then Cataract Foundation, exposed with the communities in the field serving people from all walks of life for more than a decade bringing about restoration to the sight of the poor and the poorest of the poor, that the need for prevention of deafness and hearing impairment is double, even triple, compared to blindness prevention concern.
In 2005, World Health Organization estimated 278 million people worldwide have moderate to profound hearing loss in both ears.
Having our base located in Bacolod City, we decided to focus our efforts on prevention of deafness and hearing impairment in all of Visayas regions.
In Visayas alone with 16.5 million estimated population, roughly 157,739 are hearing impaired.
Hearing impairment ranks 2nd among all of the persons with disability.
Why is this so? This is because we don't easily perceive deafness as disability. We look at them as 'normal' people capable of doing everything a normal human being does. So we oversee the fact that they need our immediate help/attention.
EYE hEAR Foundation's hEARing Center started addressing this magnitude concern last 2003. We have a state-of-the-art facility for thorough diagnostic evaluation of hearing impairment. With this, we hope to crumble the towering bricks of deafness and hearing impairment at least in Visayas regions and hopefully extend the services all over the country in the years to come.
You can help us achieve this if you do your share. WELCOME!
